Empowering People, Unlocking Potential…It’s What Jane Does
“I landed the job!” Nothing beats hearing an individual say this. In fact, it’s my number one reason for being a Career Coach.
Job loss is a trying time for individuals. Some need more time to process and move forward compared to others. As a coach, it’s important that I remain flexible to adapt to their needs. The key to unlocking their potential is listening, gaining rapport, and seeing the world through their eyes.
When outplacement services are available, I hope people will always take advantage of them. I motivate clients to get organized, watch webinars, join networking groups, and ask me any and all questions they have about job search. It’s important to balance the hard work of the search process with some fun. I want clients to look back and say, “It was a tough time finding the next job, but I’m glad I took the opportunity to do XYZ.” Use the time to your advantage.
I learn something new about the changing world of work every day. Over the years, I have coached clients from very diverse backgrounds. I enjoy working with technical professionals the most. This challenging field has a strong need for leadership and communication skills in candidates. I am always thinking about how I can help clients increase these skills.
I grew up in New York and went to college in Florida. After graduation, I decided to stay to be near the beach. Now I live in Atlantic Beach, just outside Jacksonville. I’m an early bird, so you can often find me walking to the beach to watch the sun rise. I still maintain my New York personality, though, by reading the New York Times.
In addition to my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Master of Arts in Business and Personnel Counseling, I hold an MBA in General Business Administration. My coaching skills have been perfected through my certifications. I am a Certified Leadership and Executive Coach as well as a Certified Job Search Strategist through The Academies, among other credentials. I have co-hosted the International Coach Federation (ICF) Career Coaching Community of Practice since 2008. Last year, I assumed sole volunteer leadership of this international virtual event.
I am an avid gardener, yogini, choral singer, and feminist. And I’m always looking for an adventure! My husband and I honeymooned in Costa Rica for four weeks, living with locals. I spent New Year’s Eve 2004 in Boruca, an indigenous Indian village in the Talamanca Mountains. When I travel, I like to live and be with the locals.
