Empowering people, unlocking potential… it’s what Norma does
“Oakland, California is a city of diversity,” says IMPACT Group Coach Norma Russo of her current home. “You’ll find people and communities of all ethnicities, backgrounds, and origins here, plus everything they bring with them, including unique art, dining, and culture.” Living in the San Francisco Bay area is an interesting experience for Norma, who came to the United States from Brazil 20 years ago. Born and raised in South America, she finds the local community mindset intriguing. “Oakland is a hotspot for urban farming, with entire communities coming together to plant and raise crops.”
Being immersed in an area made up of many different cultures suits Norma and enhances her expertise as a certified Career Coach. “I support people from diverse backgrounds to help them find their calling, change careers, or take their existing careers to the next level of mastery.” Norma also provides integration support to ensure employees and their families settle into the host location quickly.
Norma joined IMPACT Group in 2006 and has since helped hundreds of recipients during their career and relocation transitions while serving as a Senior Bilingual Career Coach and International Relocation Coach. One of her strengths is advising spouses/partners who desire to work abroad on developing career continuation strategies, identifying career goals, and creating CVs/résumés tailored to the standards of their new country.
“I believe that coaching is taking a client on a journey to discover who they are and who they want to be. I equip my clients with what they need to conduct an effective, comprehensive, and timely job search,” she says. “I deliver customised coaching, offering high-touch and high-tech services to prepare individuals for all aspects of managing their career.”
Norma’s clients are a testament to her commitment:
“Having the chance to work with Norma helped this to be a smooth transition. Norma thrives as a consultant, especially in job search and job interview strategies.”
“Norma is a dedicated, joyful coach. She is very creative in finding ways to solve difficulties or issues that arise for each of her clients. She is a great consultant.”
“I would recommend Norma to others. She effectively helped me and made this experience in the US fruitful and positive to my professional career. If it wasn’t for her, I would probably still be looking for a job.”
With more than 15 years of experience successfully coaching clients, her best advice for families who are relocating globally is, “Talk about your experiences with other expats in your destination country. Create a support system with family and friends and join an expat group or interest groups in your new country.” She believes this is the key to fully embracing the new culture.
Along with her BBA in Psychology, with a specialisation in Counselling, and an MS in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Norma holds coaching designations as a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP), Certified Motivational Coach, and Certified Talent Management. She is qualified to deliver a variety of personality and motivation assessments. Norma is a member of the International Coach Federation, the National Association of Workforce Professionals (NWDP) and American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
