The Scary Truth about Salaries

What is scarier? The dreaded interview OR leaving cold, hard cash on the table because you DIDN’T NEGOTIATE [insert scream here]?

During a corporate relocation, there are a multitude of moving parts that keep employees and their significant others on their toes. All of the “Where do I?”and “How do I?” questions haunt them… especially when it comes to landing a new job.

The scary truth is that finding the right opportunity and securing an interview are not the only overwhelming parts of the job search. Before landing a great new position, the dual career spouse/partner must go head-to-head with HR and negotiate for their lives.

Resources like Salary.com and Payscale.com are fantastic online resources to arm job seekers with salary ranges in the local market. Glassdoor.com is another great tool to ensure your potential new employer isn’t filled with witches and monsters.

Regardless of career, equipping job seekers with the right tools and support is the right spell to ensure a successfully attained new career. A dedicated career coach can provide talking points, tips and negotiation techniques to help the job seeker excel during an interview, secure the best possible salary in the new location, and thrive in their new role.
